A few nights ago I heard about the graying population in Singapore and Germany. The speaker explained how the young couples are not reproducing enough off springs to replace themselves within the country. Apparently in Germany the statistics showed that each marriage produced 1.1 children. There were increasingly more Muslim immigrants. These new comers produce many more children than the local citizens. As a result within the foreseeable future, Germany will become a Muslim nation.
In Singapore, the Government selectively admitted tens of thousands of immigrants from China. The fast graying society was artificially halted. The ratios of the races are being carefully maintained. Even for a casual visitor, he can see small businesses being run by mainland Chinese on the streets. It has been a few years since I went to Singapore, therefore I could not contribute any personal observation.
It is interesting to note that farmers and peasants in back ward countries produce many children. Poor areas in India and Bangladesh have the reverse trend of population explosion to contend with. Even refugees living in great hardship are still having many children per family. But in develop countries like Germany and Singapore, well to do couples have few or no children. Truly these facts defy logic.
