This is a real story a friend told me. She in turn read it from a book of testimonies.
There was a boy who just accepted Jesus as his personal savior and Lord. He went to see the annual parade in honor of some sea god's birthday. There men from the various temples on the island would go into trance and do various penance. Some carry heavy structures as head dresses. Some pierce their cheeks with needles and pierce their back as well. Some have prepared for weeks praying and eating vegetarian meals in the temples for walking on live hot coals. Some would carry and balance huge flags on their fore head, shoulders, chest, abdomen ... while walking and dancing on the streets.
The funny thing is as soon as these participants come near the boy, each of them fell out of their trance and could not get back in until they have walked far enough away. The person who realized why explained that the spirits (or fallen angels who opposed God) could not manifest themselves within ten feet of the holy spirit dwelling in the small boy's heart. Since the boy was young, he did nothing to grief the holy spirit. There was no sin to block the spirit's power. I found that amazing!
