(756) Land of Plenty/ Cat tales 30
Recently I was in Hong Kong. The first evening was the coldest. My travel companions and I had dinner at a road side eatery. It was cold enough for the corner shop to have both plastic sheet walls down, only two little doorways were open to the elements.
While we were waiting for food to be served, we saw a big cat. It was really big, much bigger than ordinary cats. She looked at us condescendingly and walked right past us to the warm kitchen. There was a sign posted on the opposite wall by the ever teaching Hong Kong government that said that all dust bins had to be shut tightly to control the rat population. And so I presume that cats are kept to minimise the rodents.
We humans had four layers of warm clothings on. The big cat had its long fur. She certainly looked warmer than us when she sat right outside of the shop looking at the live fish swimming around. Here was a cat that lived like a Empress. There was no need to beg for food. As we were walking out of the eatery after our steamboat meal, she looked at us benignly as if to say, come again and leave more fish bones for me.
-The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.-
