(37) The Falcon's Malteser by Anthony Horowitz

In this series we have the world's most inept private investigator Tim Diamond. His brother, Nick, is a totally different kettle of fish. He is quick, possesses imagination, daring, and bright as a new pin.

As detective stories go, this is like a fresh breath, very much different from the normal fare. It reminds me a little like Enid Blyton's Secret Seven series. Those characters in Secret Seven have loving families to go back to. Nick and Tim only have each other. Their parents immigrated to Australia.

There is a second book of the Diamond brothers: Public Enemy Number Two.
