This is the first part of Roberts' The MacGregors. Here we have Senator Alan MacGregor meeting his match in Shelby Campbell.
It seems that there is a real person that parallels Shelby's life. If there is a daughter of the deceased Senator Robert Kennedy, then it could be a fictional account of that lady's life. It must have been traumatic to lose a father to a bullet when one is a child. But as to if that event would affect a young woman's choice of a mate for marriage is a moot point.
There are many people who are good at making money in this world. But it is not often that a person could be engaging herself in her passion and yet make a bundle of money out of it. Shelby loves to potter with clay and could retail her crafts herself. That is indeed a rare combination of artistic gift coupled with hard headed commercial abilities!
Out of an entire crowd of presidential wannabes, there are not really many who would get nominated to be voted. Yet the swirling political masses continue to swarm the many parties given in Washington DC. It is certainly not a crime in being ambitious!
